An interview with Rhys Jenkins

We would like to introduce Rhys Jenkins, Manager of our Fusion Resource Management Team who we asked to answer the following questions below. We hope you enjoy getting to know them a bit more a bit more!

1. Where did you grow up?

Carlisle, aka the best place on earth… the most northern city in England (although I’ve somewhat lost the accent now after almost 10 years “down south”)

2. What do you like to do outside of work?

I’m a diehard Carlisle United fan and go to as many of their away games as possible. Other than that just a general sports nut and get to as many live events as I can. I also try to run and have completed 10+ half marathons and 1 marathon to date, running my 2nd marathon in October this year.

3. If you could have any other career, what would it be?

I’d love to be a History teacher but wouldn’t have the patience!

4. What has been your greatest achievement to date?

Work related, I grew my previous companies resourcing business practice 4 fold in just under 3 years there and in 2016/17 achieved my highest ever billing year in the process. Non work related would be completing Malta Marathon in 25 degree heat without dying!

5. Do you have any pet hates?

Enjoying a beer at a baseball game in South Korea

Corporate jargon… “blue sky thinking” , “touch base”, “lets take this offline” you get the picture, although I occasionally can be guilty of it myself.

6. What quality do you most appreciate in yourself?

Work ethic, always try to be the first person in the office (mainly to beat the traffic) but just generally from a young age I’ve always tried to work hard to try and help myself get to where I want to be.

7. What quality do you most appreciate in others?

Technical competency, I’d give anything to be half as technically minded as a lot of the people we’ve got at Fusion!

8. If you could have any superpower, what would it be?

The ability to read someone’s mind.

9. What part of your work is most meaningful/rewarding?

Reflecting on my spreadsheet after a good month/getting recognition from above that things are going in the right direction

10. How would your boss describe you?

Hopefully he’d say that I’m hard working and generally trying to do the best I can, he might equally say that I drink too much at work events… you’d have to ask him.
