Keyvan’s 14k swim for Alzheimers – Update 24

Tick Tock…..1 week to go!

210 days, 30 weeks, 25 blogs…gone.

368,526 meters of swimming in 131 sessions….gone.

Sped up from 1m:59s / 100m to 1m:42s / 100m over 1,500m.

£5,060 raised (so far) by an amazing 121 contributors. Didn’t think I had that many friends! I am very grateful for everyone’s help in getting me this far.

The amazing Lake 32.

And now the last week is here. A bit of a funny period for everyone. The channel crossing team are all waiting for the weather to improve this week before they make their leap over to France. And we are just tapering the sessions getting ready for Sunday 6th August. In the meantime, time to load up on the carbohydrates. Rice, potatoes, pasta, bagels and ice cream (OK – strictly speaking that’s not carbs, but I don’t think anyone will find out).

Cheltenham Lido

Just 2 more sessions coming up. One in the 50m Cheltenham lido to re-enforce the technique and one in the lake with the newly Fusion sponsorship logo branded wetsuit, very kindly provided by John Tanner.

I am swimming for Alzheimer’s Society!

Thanks to the amazing generosity of Fusion with their £1,000 kick starter followed by friends, customers, colleagues, partners and many whom I don’t even know, I have to date raised £5,060 for Alzheimer’s Society.

No sooner had I done this, JustGiving congratulated me on achieving goal and suggested I raise the target! I mean, I think I had annoyed enough people to get over the line. Something to think about!

Alzheimer’s is set to become the single biggest killer this century. If you wish to be part of a programme that helps to research into the disease and provide care for those affected, please donate via:

I am grateful for all your support and thanks very much for reading.
